More than 250 years of experience in innovation and nine generations of textile activity

1755
Origin of the Orduña family
The Orduña family, originally from the Basque Country, arrived in Valencia at the beginning of the 18th century. They were bankers and merchants, and began the textile industry in Valencia under the auspices of the splendor of the silk trade, a textile industry that continues to this day. The first known historical record is found in the most important guild archive in Europe located at the Colegio del Arte Mayor de la Seda, dated September 9, 1746 Vicente Orduña, with no previous ancestry in the Velluters guild, registered as a weaver’s apprentice, reaching the category of silk master on December 19, 1755, a qualification that by guild tradition required previous years of work and training as an apprentice and then journeyman (as provided for in the guild ordinances), a necessary condition to have one’s own workshop and be able to market the fabrics. From that moment on, and for nine generations, the Orduña family has been passing the baton, from father to son, firstborn in most cases, as recorded in the archives of the Colegio del Arte Mayor de La Seda.
Currently, several silk fabrics made by the Orduña family are on display at the Self-Made Silk Museum of Valencia.

1769
During the first half of the 19th century, the Orduña family purchased the land, the workshop and the Fos Palace. Joaquín Fos was a prominent figure of the period, as he traveled throughout Europe and the Near East, bringing previously unknown manufacturing techniques to Spain. This is reflected in the 18th-century book “Instrucción METÓDICA SOBRE LOS MUARES por D. JOAQUÍN MANUEL FOS,” owned by the Colegio del Arte Mayor de la Seda de Valencia (College of High Silk Art of Valencia), which has been digitized by the BIBLIOTECA VALENCIANA DIGITAL (BIVALDI):

Later, and as a curious fact, Joaquín Fos was appointed Mayor of the Pilar District in 1769.
Ferdinand VI appointed Joaquín Fos, presser of the Royal House, his royal coat of arms can be seen on the doors of the Palace.
The Orduña family bought its industry located in his palace-house on Calle del Bany, in the center of the Velluters neighborhood of Valencia, from Mr. Joaquín Manuel Fos.

Among these, their strongest investment has been in the broad field of flame-resistant fabrics, leading the national market in the stage and temporary architecture sectors with fabrics for theaters, conference halls, auditoriums, and all types of events (trade fairs, musicals, sporting events, public events, etc.).
It is worth highlighting their recent commitment to R&D in fabrics for the field of acoustics, with the addition of two acoustic engineers.
In September 2022, at the HOME TEXTILE PREMIUM edition of Feria Valencia, they will present their new collection of ACOUSTIC INSULATION curtains. While they are developing new future projects, they are also discussing textiles for low- and high-energy radiation protection.
